About the Opportunity at Knauf Plasterboard

Knauf Plasterboard is seeking a full-time Plant Manager to join their team in Altona, VIC.

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will primarily be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the Manufacturing and Distribution facilities, and leading these teams to ensure world class plant performance.

More specifically, your key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Managing WHS within your areas of responsibility and championing improvements in safety standards and processes;
  • Driving the implementation of continuous improvement projects with a focus on people engagement and empowerment;
  • Ensuring effective HR management of 6 direct reports, including succession and career development planning;
  • Creating and communicating achievable visions and goals for the plant, and uniting your team to work collaboratively toward achieving these;
  • Developing and implementing annual budgets, and achieving budgeted performance efficiencies;
  • Actively implementing Knauf's environmental management policy, with particular emphasis on waste reduction and energy management; and
  • Developing and improving relations with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders. 

About You

Knauf is seeking a degree-qualified, seasoned leader with broad experience in the manufacturing, mining or process-related industries.

A key component of this role will be mentoring your team members, engaging them in your vision for plant improvement and empowering them to enhance their performance and personal growth. Your leadership style must be open and consultative in a manner that will inspire the team to deliver exceptional outcomes.

You must have unquestionable honesty and integrity, and be a self-motivator with a strong work ethic. You will need to be highly organised and proactive, whilst remaining accountable for your decisions.

Importantly, you must be a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a diverse group of people. It is essential that you demonstrate respect for all Knauf employees, remain open to feedback and consider other points of view in your decision-making.
